So Jeep just can't win then, huh? They have the Wagoneer, which is boxy and not a "crossovery" thing, and then Wagoneer S, which is more sleek and stylish and whatever you mean by "crossovery".Once again, another generic, Yawn, crossovery thing, can't hardly wait not to notice that one on the road. For a company formed by Chrysler, Maserati, Citroen, that have designed some of the most iconic vehicles, they've got a bunch of Wal-Mart designers. No offense to Wal-Mart intended.
Sorry, but you're simply wrong. Almost every Jeep has been modernized with style cues from the past. Even newer nameplates like Patriot, Compass, Renegade, Gladiator (obviously), upcoming Recon, etc.Jeep has NO defining trademark except the 7 slot grill. The only way that a consumer can tell if it's a Jeep is that grill. Line up all the current Jeep products in a row and there is no familial ties! (brothers from a dlfferent mother).
Jeep has been able to maintain a certain "Jeepishness"all through it's history by maintaining that 'look'. Since MB took over the GC re-design, the style has become distinctly European and ever more generic. If you think I'm wrong, go back and look at Jeep until the late '90's, a distinct style and attitude that has been lost in recent times. Take the badge and the grill away, that thing is COMPLETELY UNRECOGNIZABLE as a Jeep. Just sayin'...
BTW, the Grand Wagoneer is closer to a jeep than anything else recently, but still too generic.
Now you're just changing your story. Your comments were specifically about styling. I'm not going to play this game.If you have followed the Jeep threads you would be aware of my opinion concerning
'Soft roader Jeep's.' They aren't jeeps, just cars with Jeep badging, That's what you are defending here. And thats what I'm fighting for, to keep Jeep real, not using "white bread" product under that marque. I'm surprised more people here don't get that.
We've seen a couple photos and it's a massive fail? I mean come on people.I agree with Jimboy. Take the emblems off that thing and NOBODY would know it's a Jeep. It looks cookie cutter. Whether or not there are a couple of design cues that came from Jeep's heritage is irrelevant. Fact is, every SUV on the market looks just like this now. It's a shame. Jeep was always different, unique. That Wagoneer S is ugly as sin. The current Grand Cherokee looks like a catfish, and this Wagoneer S is just plain ugly and cookie cutter.
And no, I don’t think it’s good to “look at what’s underneath” because aside from JL and JT every other modern Jeep has proven to be unreliable long term. Suspension bushings and connections fail early in life, problems arise quickly, and electrical gremlins adorn them front to rear. Jeeps keep shops in business. Nothing to write home about there.
What makes a Jeep a Jeep (aside from JL and JT) is the image. Period. And they’ve failed massively with this EV seen in this thread.
25 years of driving exclusively Mopar, have never not felt supported by the dealership or corporation if something broke. Doesn't mean we haven't had tense moments, because sometimes replicating a problem is hard. I'm also batting 1.000 when it comes to getting $$ out of Chrysler even AFTER warranty has expired. Maybe I'm lucky?I’m not afraid of the tech, I’m afraid of not being supported by the dealers and/or the corporation if something breaks or doesn’t work right. Honestly, that’s my fear regardless of powertrain. Shelling out high $$ and being treated like an imbecile for doing so doesn’t sound like much fun.
The EV Wrangler. 😜What EVs have 80% the capability of a Jeep Wrangler?
