Hi there,
I am Willem from the Netherlands currently driving and enjoying a 1960 Facel Vega HK500.
These rare french handbuilt cars were originally equipped with chrysler engines.
So there's the reason to join the forum because I think it is allways good to get to know more about your engine.
Happy to be here.

They were the Rolls Royce of France. I got to see one in person at Carlisle one year.

Hi all,

I am Philippe from France, known on the web as "Robert Gel" in the "Facel Vega's World enthusiasts". Robergel is the type of wheels mounted on the Facel Vega until 1958.

I own a 58 Facel Vega HK 500, with 383 cid dual Carter carbs and a Pont à Mousson manual Gearbox.

It is a pleasure to drive and maintain this car.

Lots of mopar engines were fitted on the Facel Vega cars.

Hemi Engines until 1958 (392 cid).

And you are lucky, because almost 75% of these cars were exported, mainly to the U.S. :)

Wow, I've never seen on of those before. Very nice car! I'd love to see one in person.

It is refreshing to see a new interpretation of the 'Forward Look' as it moved forward into the 1960's.
Exner's, Engel's, Ghia and Pininfarina cars are all beautiful styles in their own way, but this is something that captures a European style that is different.
The Pont à Mousson gearbox was an optional gearbox on the mighty 300 of this era. Most were Torqueflite.
The British Bristol cars with the Chrysler V8 were also interesting cars.

Some informations about Mopar engines and transmissions that were used for Facel Vega cars :
Since february 55 : Car type FV, hemi engine DeSoto Firedome S19, 276 cid, 170 hp, manual transmission Pont à Mousson 4 speeds, automatic transmission Chrysler Powerflite 2 speeds, Ball & Ball carb.

Since march 55 : Car type FV1, hemi engine DeSoto Fireflite S21, 291 cid, 200 hp, manual transmission Pont à Mousson 4 speeds, automatic transmission Chrysler Powerflite 2 speeds, Ball & Ball carb.

Since september 55 : Car type FV2, hemi engine DeSoto Fireflite S21 and S24, 291 cid, 200 hp, manual transmission Pont à Mousson 4 speeds, automatic transmission Chrysler Powerflite 2 speeds, WCFB carb

For Excellence cars (58-64), same type of configuration than FV4 (392 cid), and after than HK 500 and HK2, (361,383,413).
