If you are a Mopar lover who enjoys building Lego kits, the odds are good that you are familiar with the 2018 Dodge Demon and 1970 Dodge Charger Speed Champions kit that was introduced last year. That kit was great for children and adults, as it wasn’t very expensive and it did a nice job of representing Mopar muscle in the small scale brick world.

The only downside to those miniature Mopars was that, like all of the Speed Champions kits, they were small and not particularly intricate. Many hardcore Lego fans know that the cars in the Technic series are larger and far more detailed, with many moving parts.

This series previously included models like the Bugatti Chiron, the Porsche 911 RSR, the Corvette ZR1 and the Land Rover Defender. The Speed Champions Charger and Challenger set led those folks who wanted a larger, more detailed Mopar muscle car from Lego to call for a Technic kit…and Lego has responded by giving the people what they want.

The black 1970 Dodge Charger shown here is the newest addition to the Lego Technic series and it is kit number 42111 . It is comprised of 1,077 pieces, which when assembled create a Mopar muscle car that measures 16 inches long, 7 inches wide and 4 inches tall, making it roughly 1/13th the size of the real thing.

It should be noted that this isn’t just any 1970 Dodge Charger, it is “Dom’s Dodge Charger”, which served as the hero car in the original The Fast and the Furious. Dom is Dominic Toretto, the character played by Vin Diesel in the “Fast Saga” movie series.

Like the car in the movie, this Charger is modified with wide tires and a supercharger sticking up through the hood. Open that custom hood and you will find an engine with moving parts, along with working steering and suspension systems. Of course, the doors open, as does the trunk lid, revealing a pair of nitrous oxide bottles.

Best of all, this Dodge Charger R/T comes with a stand that attaches to the undercarriage, allowing you to display the car with the front wheels in the air. If you are somehow not familiar with the movie, one of the most famous scenes is a race including the supercharged Charger. On the launch, the Dodge muscle car does a gigantic wheelstand while also roasting the tires, which is physically impossible.

This new Lego Technic Dodge Charger is scheduled to begin shipping on April 27, 2020, so it should be on stores by early May. If you order it on the Lego website, the price is $99.99 with free shipping, but if you wait and hunt for one of these cars in a local store, you might be able to save a few bucks.
