hi all
i have a 2001 touring cruiser
it passed mot 3 weeks ago but i have a knocking on the front end over bumps.
i have replaced the anti roll bar link bolts.
if i jack the car up and put a bar at the back bush i can move the wishbone up and down quite a bit.
would this be the cause of the knocking i can definately feel it under my feet.
thankyou in advance

It's often worn strut bearings, especially if it makes a noise like wooden blocks clapping, but is not felt through the steering.

The lower control arm bushings are most likely shot. Very common. you can drive it without issue, but very annoying. I replaced mine with Energy Suspension polyurethane bushings and they've been fine.

thanks fellas
like i said i put a crow bar between the wishbone and chassis and moved it up and down and the actual wishbone did move a lot
at the rear.
i suppose i'll need to replace it so will do both at the same time.
thanks again

i just replaced mine to pass a safety inspection.left one was a beast to replace, the nut inside the frame tore loose from its mooring.
pull carpet back,a dimple in floorboard directly above bolt indicates where to bore a hole with a holesaw-i used two inch holesaw and a cordless drill.

then i welded the nut to the frame, while it was still hot i hit the bolt with the impact and got it apart.
it doesent knock on the floor anymore.
