Today, Alfa Romeo announced their US pricing for the Giulia, their first new car in North America aside from the limited-production 4C. There’s some potential for competition with Dodge and Chrysler: the base four-cylinder Giulia starts at $37,995 (C$48,995 in Canada).  Just $2,000 more — in the US or Canada — buys the Ti model. All wheel drive also costs $2,000 more in either country.

The base engine is a new 2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with direct injection, pumping out 280 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. That’s just about the same as the Pentastar V6 — less horsepower and more torque — but given the light weight of the Alfa Romeo, 0-60 times are quite low: 5.1 seconds, with a top speed of nearly 150 mph (240 km/h).

The base car comes with heated leather seats and steering wheel, HID headlights, 6.5 inch stereo with navigation, rear park sensors and camera, and seven-inch trip computer. The Ti adds 18-inch wheels, wood accents, 8.8 inch touch-screen, and other features; buyers can get Sport, Lusso, or Performance packages.

The top Quadrifoglio, which uses a Ferrari V6, starts at $72,000 (C$87,995), with a 505-horsepower and two turbochargers, registering 0-60 in 3.8 seconds and setting a four-door production sedan record at Nürburgring.

The Dodge Charger starts at $27,995 before usually-hefty discounts, with the 392-powered Scat Pack starting at $39,995 — the same as the Giulia Ti — and the supercharged Hellcat coming in at $67,645.
