I am considering buying a 1986 Chrysler New Yorker turbo. It is cream color and has a red velour interior and all options. Absolutely no rust and 69,200 Original miles. The engine does shake a bit but not to the extent that a cylinder might be misfiring. What was the durability of this engine? thanks

It's a durable engine. The headgasket is probably the weakest point but not that hard to change either, a little more work on a turbo but still not that bad. But despite the low miles, it's a 26 year old car. If maintenance wasn't kept up it can easily turn into a money pit once you start driving it - all the small stuff that deteriorates even when a car sits: belts, hoses, brakes, tires, and on and on.

Hard to beat that if it's working OK. Those engines did shake a bit.

Test drove a Brand new turbo Le Baron back in the day, engine was so rough I passed it up for a Non Turbo car. But If I could possibly fit another car in my life I would buy it for local car shows. But yeah, unless you love to tinker it will probably get expensive ant time consuming.
