a prybar to persuade the axle out of trans will help. occasionally i have needed to rotate the axle and give the prybar a quick snap to get it to pop out.some slip out with little effort.

most front wheel drives all you need to do is remove wheel,big nut and pinch bolt at lower ball joint.
a long robust pry bar and a piece of chain.
pry lower control arm down and swing knucle to rear.
turn steering wheel to extend tie rod out to its fullest.
should be able to slip knuckle off spline and tie back out of the way.
a little wrestling and you have an axle.

i used to replace them in under an hour,but on a hoist is different than jackstands.
