Problem is, the light switch is probably more expensive than the car, they don't make them anymore, but that would not have the headlights go out anyway. Check the connection at the bulkhead connection below the steering colum in the engine bay, the headlights are on a direct power wiring and no fuse, so corrosion and bouncing around could make the connection go bad. There is, as mentioned above, two plugs that do go into the switch in the dash panel, which may also be loose or corroded more than anything else.

OK, if you say so, never seen it myself in the past 35 years of having three of them. Anyway, if that is the case, it is time to check the wiring for a short in the wiring, which like I said, is wired direct and without an inline fuse (other than the internal one I have never seen, but then again, never had a switch pop like this), so it would make sense that there is a short somewhere. I have, in the past now, had problems with the harness running between the two headlights, and from there, under the battery tray is a second plug that then runs up to the bulkhead connection, had that plug get oily once and it would do this sometimes.

Yeah, OK, I concede the bimetallic strip that pops itself apart, never thought of it as an actual fuse per se, but you are right and I am wrong. I never had to reset one in the sense of pulling it out or reaching under the dash to reset it.

Thanks. When I am wrong, or if I learn something new, I admit my error, and appreciate the education.

Sure hope this helps pryan26, whether a short or a dirty circuit/connection that separates during movement.
