Dodge announced this morning that the 2019 SRT Hellcat version of the Challenger will get a new dual snorkel style hood. Accompanying this news is the pair of shadowy images shown here, showcasing this new hood design on what appears to be an Indigo Blue Widebody Hellcat Challenger.

The details on this new hood are slim, but this was what the company had to say about this new Hellcat Challenger hood design:
Dodge is again reaching back to its 100-plus-year history as it evolves the Challenger lineup for 2019, introducing a new dual-snorkel hood on Hellcat models that pays homage to the distinctive Mopar design themes from some of its most famous muscle cars. This new fully functional hood hearkens back to the mid-60s and early-70s, but with a modern interpretation that looks even more sinister and provides maximum air intake to the supercharged powerplant.

This does appear to be the same hood that we saw on Instagram last month , with two large scoops located near the leading edge of the hood. It will be interesting to see whether those scoops pipe air into the engine bay or if there is some sort of “air grabber” design similar to that found on the Demon. The Demon’s hood feeds air to the engine while the 2015-2018 Hellcat hoods simply bring cooler air into the engine bay.

It seems possible that with the dual scoop setup, one could bring air into the engine while the other feeds the engine air intake system of the Hellcat Hemi, but that is purely speculation on my part.

Dodge also promised more information this summer and with so many rumors pertaining to the future of the Challenger floating around the internet, there could be big news coming for the Mopar muscle car. In the meantime, we know that the first change for the 2019 Challenger is a dual snorkel style hood for the Hellcat models, but it is unclear right now whether this design is optional or if it replaces the current design with one front-facing scoop and two heat extractors.

As soon as there is more information on this new hood, you will find it here on Allpar.com.
