Hi everyone,

My name is Kristen and I am hoping to purchase my first 'on my own' car soon - a 2003 Dodge Neon. I have several steps to take before I make the commitment and have been doing extensive research to be sure that is not a bad experience.

Yes, I am too old to finally be buying my own car (I have 2 grown children!), but I have always had a husband (ex's don't help ex-wives with car purchases :), not that I would want his help , sadly he hates me and might decide to put a bomb on it before I try to drive it off the lot!) or my dad to help me with the technical part of car purchases. I do still have my dad available for his opinion and insight, but I know that I need to learn to do this on my own... he won't be around forever either  .

Anyways, so I found the Allpar website and am so impressed!! I shared the link with my dad and he has found it quite informational as well. Needless to say, I decided that joining the forum is the next logical step so that I can see what else might be going on 'inside' that I might need to know. Great to meet you all, and hope I'm not too much of a 'car-tard' to be here.

:p Kristen B

Welcome to Allpar!
Thank you both. I am so excited to get this car and have a friend who is going to help me with the 'wheeling and dealing'. He used to be a dealer so he knows many of the tricks. I am eager to do some researching, asking and learning!!!
Welcome to Allpar and good luck with making a good deal! There are a lot of intelligent folks here (not me) that are very helpful with trouble shooting and helping solve any problems you may run into. It's refreshing to have another lady here that isn't afraid to ask questions and get her hands dirty. I don't think we have that many female participants, but I could be wrong. My favorite is Mattie. She's not as active as she used to be though.
