The folks at Hennessey Performance have been at the front of the pack in terms of tuning the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon since the supercharged beasts first hit the street last year. Their newest offering is the HPE1200 package, which lifts the output well beyond 1,200 horsepower at the crankshaft – delivering a whopping 1,013 horsepower and 954 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.

The Build

On the Hennessey website, there is a listing for the HPE1200 package, but there are very few details. Whereas most of their packages have lists of the components included, the HPE1200 package has only the following information:

“Hennessey Performance will be offering an HPE1200 package for the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon including: NHRA legal roll cage, parachute upgrade, headers, engine tuning, upgraded supercharger systems from 1000 to 1500 HP and more.”

That doesn’t offer much insight into how the company got over a thousand wheel horsepower, but there are full details on their HPE1000 package. The HPE1200 is likely a beefier version of the HPE1000 package, so here are the details of the lesser of the two.

The HPE1000 package lifts the output at the wheels to 880 horsepower and 806 lb-ft of torque. That package includes a 4.5L Whipple supercharger, a pulley upgrade over stock, a new throttle body, stainless steel long tube headers, high-flow catalytic convertors, a high flow supercharger bypass valve, larger fuel injectors, Boost-A-Pump, a high flow air induction system and a custom tune.

Without details on the HPE1200 package, we can only guess as to what the company used to get the extra power, but it likely included a smaller supercharger pulley, a more aggressive tune and perhaps some race gas – or something other than 93-octane pump gas.

In any case, the video below shows what the modern Dodge Demon can do with a relatively short upgrade list and it sounds absolutely incredible while in action, so crank up your speakers and enjoy!
