How to put the boot on the convertible

Hi all,

Just picked up a boot for my PT Cruiser convertible. Not exactly the color I wanted but can't complain.

Now I tried to put the boot on and I don't think I have it completely correct. I know about the two "buttons" on the ends you snap onto the frame. I also know there is a slot where you insert the part of the boot where there are two tabs into it to make it flushed. My issue is with the bottom of the boot. I can't seem to put that inside anywhere-- I kinda leave it hanging out. I think the whole bottom of the boot needs to slip underneath the trim of the car but I can't seem to do so.

Attached are pics of what it looks like.

Do you have the owners manual supplement for the convertible?

Figured it out with the help of that instruction. I actually found my copy of the owners manual on my laptop but appreciate it though.

There were two things I did incorrectly. The first was that I didn't turn the handle back to the locking position and so it wasn't stowed down. Second was that I needed to put the corners of that bottom lip down and tucked first before doing anything else. That was why I couldn't tuck those corners in at all if I did the other steps beforehand. Looks good now. I'll add some pics when there is sun tomorrow.

Thanks to all!

I think spray painting it works but I'm not going to do it. At different angles and at different times during the day the grey looks like silver so it looks great. At other times it looks white (like in my very first pic) so it looks a bit awkward. I may pick up a black one if I can find one cheap like I did this grey one but at the end of the day, its not all that important since I'll probably only put it on for show otherwise it's kind of a hassle with no real benefit functionally.

I had a similar issue when I finally secured my boot last year. When opening the top, make sure you help the first hinge point fold away from you. It was pointed out to me that sometimes the first hinge folds downward. When that happens, the top doesn't settle correctly. Good luck. I have a black Cruiser and a very kind Canadian Cruiser owner gifted me a boot. One can of Duplicator Vinyl spray (many light coats) took it from beige to black.
