Does the truck still run in 2 wheel drive or is the front axel locked up?
What were you doing when it tore up so as others with 4x4s can avoid doing the same thing and breaking theirs?

I traded my Kia with 266,000 miles for it and the trucks 4x4 hasn't worked since I got it everyone kept telling me it was the actuator but I pulled it out and it works great, I pulled off the diff cover next and found one small spider gear broken in half and the pin that hold them in place broken into three pieces, so I'm guessing that the previous owner shifted into 4x4 moving pretty fast too put enough tourtière on the gear and pin to shatter it.

Busted gears, while shifting into 4 wheel going too fast. you should be able to get the replacement gears for not too much money.
