Hello everyone. I recently had my key stuck in my 2008 dodge grand caravan and while moving the shifter I heard something fall down behind the console and when I got my shifter module out this Dawl Pin

was on the floor. And I am trying to figure out where it fell from. Can anyone identify it. Thanks for your help.

Welcome to Allpar, lots of great people to help here, was wondering if you could re-post that picture, it's very blurry. Looks like a treaded pin for something, maybe from your tilt steering column.

If it is from the shifter assembly, it isn't serviced separately. If the shifter is removed from the dash, you may be able to find where it goes and reinstall it securely. There is a BTSI (brake-transmission shift interlock) cable and solenoid that prevents moving the selector out of Park unless your foot is on the brake or removing the key if the selector isn't in Park.
Does this safety feature still work?
