I've owned 3 Daytonas: An '89 Base model bought new, a '92 V6 ES bought at 2 years old and an '87 Z.
The '89 base with 2.5 and 4 wheel disc brakes probably stopped the best of any car I've driven, including my '06 Mustang GT. Light weight + 4 wheel discs = STOPPING POWER!
The '92, red with ground effects, is still a good looking design. Unfortunately, it has terminal limp mode and paint is starting to peel. Not to mention it's 1100 miles away in Ontario, Canada. Kinda hard to tinker with it on a Saturday afternoon.
The '87 Z I bought for $100 for the crab wheels and then got the thing running and while it was never legal, it was dang fast! I stripped out the interior, bigger turbo & intercooler, open exhaust and some homemade ground effects. Lost it in a grass fire when I was in Canada.
I'd like to get the '92 up and running again, not as a stock Daytona, but modified into a street legal racer-type. Stripped out interior, bolt on mods, ground effects... kinda like the '87 was, but V6 N/A, instead of Turbo 4. Of course, with my luck, I'll never see it again *laughs*
Thanks for letting me spout off...
