Really? This article shows that all you need to write for Auto News these days is to be able to type. The thought that LEAF EV is now somehow going to save Nissan is delusional in itself.

The 2026 Nissan Leaf features an all-new, EV-specific chassis, a driving range of 303 miles and a base price of $29,990. (RICHARD TRUETT/AUTOMOTIVE NEWS)

The entire article full of wishful thinking: Column: Nissan, in dire need of a win, has a promising contender in 2026 Leaf EV

PS - As early as 2010, customers were telling Nissan that LEAF needed to exceed 200 miles of range, at minimum. Nissan ignored them; for the first 10 years, LEAF struggled to break 100 miles of range.

While Nissan finally made 200+ miles of range optional in 2021; LEAF's standard version still only went 150 miles.

So 2026 will be the first time in LEAF's 16 year existence that the model breaks 300 miles of range.

Tesla Model S achieved this in 2012.

That's "Innovation that Excites" for yah.

The Model S was also $60-100k
The Leaf shouldn't be held to that standard when it topped out at under $40k. They were the cheap entry point to EVs, while Tesla was still the vanity-ev, that was only showing American corporations that "EVs should cost 30k more because they're niche/vanity vehicles"

Telsa Model S “claimed” this in 2012. ;) I think they also claimed FSD was six months away.

Your point is noted, though. It's still cheaper than 500e, though, right?

Yer right! 2012 Model S had a range of only 265 miles. Still above consumers' 200-mile minimum requirement though.

2012 LEAF range was a paltry 73 miles...!

Yeah, 2026 Nissan LEAF is expected to start under $30,000 vs 2025 Fiat 500e $32,500.
