Installing the aftermarket "Pistol Grip" shift knob. Difficult

4041 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Daytona Dude

Just bought a 2012 Challenger Rallye Redline. I plan on buying the Mopar aftermarket pistol grip shift knob. Has anyone installed one of these? If so, is it difficult? What's involved? Should I just leave this up to the dealership?

"Mopar Shift Knobs enhance your interior`s appearance. Shift Knob is a direct swap, installing easily. All hardware is included.
Additional Details: Pistol Grip Shift Handle w/Mopar Logo - Gloss Black Grip (Automatic Transmission Only)".

It says easy. You may have to loosen the set screw holding the old knob to the lever, pull the knob off and install the new knob and tighten the set screw.
The set screw is probably a T-15 or T-20 torx.
The dealer parts guy can download and print you the installation instruction sheet off the StarParts website if you want a look before ordering.

Thanks. I'll keep your offer in mind. I won't have the car for a few weeks, yet.
