Hi everybody,

Looking for rear struts on my Sebring LX '02 2.4L DOHC Sedan
Looking for Mopar original

Found two part numbers:
4879188AA - http://www.factorymoparparts.com/4879188aa.html - $68.25
4782998AC - http://www.factorymoparparts.com/4782998ac.html - $22.54

As understood
4879188AA for 2001-2002 .2,4-2,7
4782998AC for 2004-2005 2,4

I wonder, is there any difference between this struts?
Will 4782998AC fit my '02 Sebring?

rockauto.com and ebay offer many (non-Mopar) struts for Sebring/Stratus 96-06 years or at least 01-06

Can anyone comment this question?
Thanks,

p.s. http://starparts.chrysler.com/starlibrary/marketing/shocks.pdf shows one part number for 01-06 years as well

Welcome to Allpar. 4879188AA is for '01-'02 JR with SDA (base) suspension. Dealer list is $99.
4782998AC supersedes to 4782998AD and is for '01-'06 JR with SDE (sport) suspension. Dealer list is $33.
I would have to run your VIN to see which suspension you have, if it matters.
Physically they should both be similar. The valving is different.
Rockauto or ebay shocks should work OK.
The aluminum upper shock mount on these disintegrated in the salt belt and may need replacement. The new ones are steel.

Thank you for your reply,

Looks like mine is SDA - normal duty suspension

So, i can put 4782998AD on my '02 Sebring and will get less comfortable suspension then?
But they will fit anyway? Or i have to replace strut mounts?

It is SDA-normal suspension. You may not notice any more 'stiffness' in the ride going with the sport (SDE) shocks as the sport suspension would also have the sport springs.
If you are replacing the shocks for a clunking over bumps, you may want to examine the aluminum upper mounts first. The noise may not be from the shocks.
If you want to PM me with a return e-mail address, I can send you the summary and option list on your car.

yup, the rear upper Shock Mounts tended to corrode, and then proceed to crumble like a dry pastry.
