Despite a year that left Jeep nearly 100,000 deliveries behind 2016, Jeep remained the best-selling utility brand in the U.S. last year. It was also the top brand in combined U.S. and Canadian sales, beating Ford by a total of 11,683 units.


Combined NAFTA (U.S., Canada and Mexico) turnover came to 911,525 in 2017. Since by-model information on Mexican sales is a bit hard to come by, we can't do a head-to-head comparison with Ford, Toyota and Chevrolet.


Worldwide Jeep sales fell slightly less than one percent, coming in at 1.388 million. NAFTA accounted for about two-thirds of the total.

The Grand Cherokee was the best-selling Jeep in the world last year. It was also the best-selling Jeep model in the U.S. while it placed third in the Canadian market behind the Cherokee and Wrangler. It also outsold the Ford Explorer in the U.S. to finish the year as the top non-compact SUV. (Ford considers the Police Interceptor Utility to be a separate model and does not include it in Explorer sales.)


On the subject of best-sellers, the Dodge Charger was the top-selling full-size car in the U.S. in 2017. It finished the year 12,474 sales ahead of the Chevrolet Impala.
