I've got a VE Valiant Regal 904 torqueflite transmission that is leaking out of one or two bolts on the transmission pan. I've replaced the pan, sealed the gasket and made certain I didn't over tighten the bolts, what should I do?
Welcome to Allpar. Are you sure that it isn't leaking from above and dripping down? Is it on the left side below the shift/throttle shaft and cooler line fitting or underneath where the tailshaft housing attaches to the case?
Some gaskets are meant to be used without sealers. Some silicone/RTV sealers can't handle ATF. Rubberized gaskets generally work better than old-fashioned cork or paper.
A shot of fast-drying brake parts cleaner makes an excellent spot degreaser for leak diagnosis. If it is actually leaking down the threads of the bolt, try a dab of ATF-RTV sealer on the bolt tip?
