The Situation: Recently got my hands on a beat up 1990's Lebaron. Of course, one of my rear windows is stuck (up). Can't hear the motor at all, everything inside looks gross compared to the passenger side - repair/ replace would cost more than the car's worth.

The question: If I snip the cable, would I be able to drop/ lift that sucker manually?

Many thanks!!

Probably, but the motor is probably just wet and the bearings are seized. There was a recall for 1990-early 1992 cars that involved drilling an extra drain hole.

These window motors were problematic. Mine would stop working over winter every year. A good whack with a broom handle usually got them working again.

The cables and the pulleys often had issues. If you cut the cable, there’s nothing to hold the window up.
