The original Jeep Wrangler Recon provided owners with a few items not available otherwise:  red leather seats, a new “power dome” hood, “Anvil” paint, new steel bumpers, enhanced rock rails, unique front axle and differential covers, and red seat belts and switches. Adding to the attraction were numbered dash plaques and a hood decal listing the upgrades.

The original Jeep Wrangler Recon

The 2020 Jeep Wrangler Recon, based on dealer materials, won’t add quite as much in the way of unique attractions, but it still looks like a decent enough deal. For $2,755 over the normal Rubicon, the Recon provides the LED lighting group, red seat belts, wrapped mid bolsters with red stitching, black-and-red hood decal, various badging, rock rails, steel bumpers with a protective hoop, a gloss-black grille body, black wheels and trim, 33-inch “mud tires,” and a Jeep trail bag.

The Recon will include the hot little 2-liter turbo engine, with an automatic transmission, and all the Rubicon goodies. Whether buyers actually want that engine is another question, currently open for debate; the 2.0 is a potent force, but Wrangler buyers are often hard to predict.
