Today, Tim Kuniskis announced two new Dodge cars, both of which can be purchased with either the 375-hp 5.7 or 485-hp 392 Hemi engines.
First was the return of the 2017 Dodge Charger Daytona, with two versions. There is a 5.7 and a 392 version; even the 5.7 has the full SRT appearance package, and sells for $3,000 over the R/T Plus. It has the full SRT appearance, front and rear, a 20x9 inch wheel, with 245 wide F1 tires. Inside is leather and suede, with new bezels. It has a cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust already installed.
Every 5.7 in a Charger Daytona comes with a 2 3/4” SRT electronic exhaust (to let the driver set the “tune”), never sold on a 5.7 before, as well; its retail price is $40,995 including destination.
The Charger Daytona 6.4 adds the brake, tire, and wheel package from the Hellcat, with a leather SRT seat, plus a functional cold air intake, for under $45,000 ($46,100 with destination).
Next was the 2017 Dodge Challenger T/A, with a satin black hood, functional cold air intake (with a ducted hood, like on the Shaker cars, that feeds the airbox); it has the full vintage stripe package, and LED lighting inside the hood air-catchers.
The 392 has 110 more horsepower, Hellcat wheels, tires, and brakes, and SRT seats. It’s essentially the Scat Pack with more upgrades, for under $45,000.
The Challenger T/A with the 5.7 includes the performance suspension, steering, and brakes, and wheels and tires; and hounds-tooth cloth inside. It has the Super Track Pak, which includes a half-inch-lowered suspension, high performance Bilstein shocks, performance brakes, a special stability-control setup, and high performance tires; and the six speed manual standard, with an optional eight-speed.
Buyers can get the Challenger T/A for $38,495 (including destination), the T/A Plus (with Nappa leather, 8.4” touch screen, fourth-generation UConnect, leather-wrapped steering wheel, power tilt/telescope column, and 276 watt amp) for $41,145. An attractive part of the T/A Plus is the Dodge Performance Pages, which provide performance information (e.g. 0-60 and G-force).
The Challenger T/A 392 starts with the T/A Plus and adds the 392 engine, Hellcat-type “headlamp style” cold-air intakes, six-piston front and four-piston rear Brembo brakes, unique front suspension geometry, P275/40ZR20 Pirellis, 180 mph speedometer, and 220 amp alternator, among other things; it starts at $45,100 including destination.
Tim Kinuskis reminded viewers that a large section of Woodward Avenue in Pontiac will be shut down this weekend for a drag racing and Hellcat drives as part of Roadkill Nights, sponsored by Dodge, from noon to 10 pm. He also said that the Charger and Challenger were responsible for over 40% of all muscle cars sold in the US.
As you can see, these cars include the new, limited production Green Go paint and a revised Yellow Jacket color; 2017 also adds Destroyer Gray and Octane Red. Returning colors, some with new names, are White Knuckle, Redline Red, Pitch Black, Granite, Billet, Contusion Blue, and Maximum Steel.
