Last month, the world’s quickest modern Hemi-powered machines rolled into Cecil County Dragway for the 5 th event on the Modern Street Hemi Shootout schedule for 2019, sponsored by High Horse Performance, and as one of the quickest tracks in the country, Cecil didn’t disappoint. Clear skies and great track prep led to a great event, but for those who couldn’t attend, here is a rundown of how all of the classes finished up.

Before we get into the results, we want to point out that the next Modern Street Hemi Shootout event is being held this weekend at Lapeer International Dragway as part of the weekend-long Hemi’Sanity event. There is test and tune today at Lapeer, a full racing program tomorrow (Friday, August 16 th ) and the MSHS lot will host the official Dodge corporate display at the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, so if you are in the Metro Detroit area, there is some great racing and cruising to check out this weekend. Click here for more information, as there is time to sign up for the racing program and as of last night, there are still spots available to park at the MSHS Woodward lot in Pontiac. If you are a Mopar lover, we strongly recommend displaying your car with the MSHS, as it will be the best Mopar area for 2019, hands down.

Augustine had the better reaction time (.091 to .140) and the quicker ET, but in running an 11.487 in an 11.50 index class, he took the loss as Tout won with her 11.517.

In theTrue Street Performance Modified Class Geoff Bracken and his 2007 Dodge Charger took on Chris Dufresne and his Jeep Trackhawk on the 10.50 index. When Dufresne pulled the heartbreaking -.001 reaction time, Bracken got the free pass to victory, running a 10.472 to Dufresne’s 10.407.

The ThiTek Pro Class saw Mike Tomaszewki and his 1968 Plymouth battling Eskle Collier in a 2007 SRT8 on the 9.50 index. Tomaszewki took the starting line advantage with a significantly better reaction time (.043 to .193) and when Collier ran into issues, the ’68 Plymouth got the easy win with a 9.94.

The Demon Performance Super Pro Class is a heads-up battle of the quickest vehicles on the scene and at the Cecil event, the final round effectively pitted the two most-respected tuners in the modern Mopar scene head-to-head. This included Tim Barth in a modified 2018 Demon and Josh Schwartz in the Hellcat known as Top Cat. Although both drivers pulled lackluster reaction times, Barth and the bright yellow Demon ran a 9.37 at 150 while Schwartz ran a 9.604 at 153.

TheHigh Horse Performance Hellcat Shootout saw Mike England went head-to-head with Jay Johnson in a clash of factory-supercharged Dodge machines on the 10.00 index. England took a small advantage on the tree and in running a 10.082, he beat Johnson’s 10.278 to get the win.

The Carlisle Racing Demonclass has been dominated by Catherine Kosiba and that continued at Cecil, with her Destroyed Grey Mopar muscle car beating David Davies, running a 9.84 to Davies’ 10.466. Kosiba has been practically unbeatable in the Demon class since joining the MSHS, beating all comers.

The Southern Hot RodRookie Class saw a pair of 2018 392-powered machines going head to head, with Alex Pappas taking on Chris Allen. Pappas dialed 12.00 and Allen dialed 13.20, but both rookie drivers ran well off of their dial-ins. Pappas grabbed the starting line advantage and he needed it, running a 12.36 on his 12.00 dial while Allen ran a 13.49 on the 13.20 dial.

Finally, the King of the Hill class pits all of the winners from the other classes in a head-to-head bracket battle and at Cecil, Bracket Class winner Jeff Feiler took onGearhead Fabrications Street Class winner Steve Benedke, with Feiler’s class Mopar machine taking the win.
