My Birthday present

Yesterday was my 63rd birthday. It started out normal, I went to work at 5am and then about 5:45 I get a call from my wife. She was proceeding through a green light and a guy turned in front of her. You can see the results. Our new car. My wife is sore, but okay. Mainly from the seat belt. All things considered, I'd say the the Jeep came through pretty good. The hood is damaged, but the fenders appear to be okay, just the grille headlights etc.

I thought it was worse because of the reflection on the doors, (I thought there were dents there too). Most important, glad to hear that your wife is ok, a vehicle can be replaced. Second, hopefully they can get the L fixed up and back to you quickly.

Yeah that picture I took isn't the best for reflections. Surprisingly, they drove it up on the rollback. Radiator internally is intact as there wasn't any leaks. My wife is convinced that had she been in some other vehicle she would've been hurt. She always has liked Jeep SUVs because she thinks they're tough. I can't argue with her on that one. I hope too it gets fixed rather quickly, but with some customers waiting on sold orders at the plant I'm not optimistic. There are front end pieces specific to this model, which may or may not help the process.
Jeeps are indeed tough, I got rear-ended in my Liberty four or five times with no damage to speak of. Granted, having the spare tire on the rear door was helpful, like having a built-in bumper up high. I always worried about the rear window breaking because supposedly if you pressed the tire just right, it would flex the door, breaking the window, but thankfully it never happened.

For her rental, unless she was able to choose a specific type of vehicle, I’m betting it’ll be a Toyota Corolla. I think it’s the number one punishment device….er…I mean rental car. We had one when we went to Colorado. Bland was not a bland enough word for it.

Last rental Tojo Corolla I had did not even have cruise control. Yes, windows were crank.
I don’t recall too many details, but the zig-zag shifter was annoying. The seating position was terrible. And I felt like I could get out and run faster than it accelerated. To say I was disappointed when I found out what we were getting would be an understatement. But, it did get us from A to B, and that’s what we required.

Had two Corollas and both had a flat board for the seat back. Never had a Mopar that the seat caused my back to tighten up.
I recall the seats in my TJ weren't very comfortable, but it was a TJ, so I wasn't expecting much. The seats in my Liberty were pretty comfortable, even after 18 years and 180k miles. The leather was still in pretty good shape too.

The seats in our Commander are the same way. 230k miles and they are fine. No rips or tears, and I'm a big guy.
The leather was very durable! We’ll see how the cloth and artificial materials we’re stuck with now hold up over time. Neither myself, nor my wife are that big, so the durability test for us is the kids and the dogs. Lol.
These are cloth seats. Very boring to look at, but tough.
We don’t have any cloth seats in our current vehicles, Active X in one and leather in our two older vehicles. Once they’re traded in, no more leather for us…or as little as possible. I don’t necessarily mind cloth, it just depends on what kind….look & feel. The cloth seats we had in our old Ion were terrible, well the entire interior was terrible, so that’s not saying much. With kids & dogs, I much prefer something I can just wipe off. Vinyl would be just fine by me.
