NASCAR News & Discussion

It's been awhile since a dedicated topic existed for NASCAR discussion on Allpar. This topic is purely for news and discussion! 2021 has been an admittedly exciting year for NASCAR with a ton of changes and a lot of great storylines. So let's have some fun, strap up, and have some good-natured discussion on the sport.

This isn't the topic to bemoan and decry the sport. So hopefully we have some good NASCAR fans here ready to talk.

The topic is for the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, Camping World Truck Series and any local racing. Pretty much anything NASCAR related you want to talk about. :)

I'm expecting the Cup race to be less entertaining than tonight's Busch race was.

Stage 2 has just ended. The Ford's overall look pretty strong today.

So far you are right, lol! I think the Xfinity Series has had the best racing the past couple seasons.

Cool to see an underdog pull off the win.

Totally! I was thrilled for them and their victory! I was surprised because he sort of came up out of nowhere and took that win. I wasn't too pleased we had NASCAR overtime to determine the victory because the green flag racing up until Suarez was spun was absolutely fantastic! But I am super excited for Stenhouse and that small team. That is one Playoff position taken now for a team many will write off. Hopefully they can build on this.

I think another standout today was the duo over at RFK racing with Keselowski and Buescher. I really hope we see that time continue to get better this year.

Travis Pastrana just about snuck in with a top ten in this race until the last lap accident He ended in 11th. Jimmie Johnson as well. Want to point out Rick Ware Racing got a top ten with Riley Herbst in his (debut?) race in a part time schedule he has with them this year. Cody Ware finished 14th as well. Zane Smith took 13th in his debut. Conor Daly ran as best he could in that slow ride by TMT, and finished 29th. He ran clean though the whole race.

Rain and snow plagued the Xfinity race so it was postponed till after the Cup race today. Both were excellent races. Great action.

Interesting side note - my son's college buddy is the jackman for Stenhouse. He was also the jackman for McDowell when he won the 500 two years ago. He is employed by RFK Racing and they "lease" out their pit crews to other teams.

^ That's pretty neat. :) RFK is on the up and up now too. I wouldn't be surprised if Brad gets a win this year as well.

Just over a month and we will be heading to the dirt race at Bristol. It is so much more fun being right in the dust, than watching on TV. So ready to go!

A rather uneventful race that ended with a last lap accident, ruining some good cars. The day was dominated by Hendrick Motorsports.

General Motors ending Camaro production
March 22, 2023
The Chevrolet Camaro, for decades the dream car of many teenage American males, is going out of production
The Chevrolet Camaro, for decades the dream car of many teenage American males, is going out of production.
General Motors, which sells the brawny muscle car, said Wednesday it will stop making the current generation early next year.
The future of the car, which is raced on NASCAR and other circuits, is a bit murky. GM says another generation may be in the works.
If GM revives the Camaro, it almost certainly will be electric, said Stephanie Brinley, an associate director with S&P Global Mobility. “It would be unlikely to see another internal combustion engine vehicle,” she said.

Not certain it matters. As long as GM ponies up enough dollars to NASCAR, NASCAR will find a way to slap a bowtie on their spec car.

Spec car is right. Everything from the windshield back to the "tail lights" is spec. on Cup cars. Even the nose piece will have to be within a certain spec requirement and then GM will provide some Chebbbie decals from whatever model they will be pushing to paste onto the nose piece. No way is "Chevcar" going to be running without that big $$$ from GM which will buy approval of whatever decals GM comes up with.
I can't see Chevy ever leaving NASCAR. I'm sure they'll find something to race. I just hope they don't use this to move towards crossover/SUV "stock car" racing.
