Hello,
Don't know what's the proper name is but the part that fits into the tail end of the tran where the speed cable screw onto, It won't stay locked in the tran, I know there should be a bracket of some kind to hold this in place, what is that called ? where do i get one? or even if i saw what it was shape like i could possible make one.
Thanks

No need to make one, any junk yard will have one. Note that you must clock the speedometer gear adapter to match the gear installed.

It is the same for the 727 and 904 transmission and it is the speedometer gear housing, and there is a bracket that holds it to the tailshaft with a clamp similar to a distributor clamp, and an O-ring to keep it from leaking. They are also indexed so the different sized gears (they change with rear end gearing) to engage in case it isn't working. Hopefully the bolt (3/8ths or 7/16ths) that goes into the case isn't stripped. If so, tap to the next size larger, it is aluminum and pretty easy to do if needed.
