sorry don't know them but love Port Huron folk-great fishermen and workers and people. You're absolutely right about the cost. You're money ahead without a car note for the next 5-7 years. I used to run the streets of Nashville with some guys from Port Huron. Do you know any of the Schmitts or Adairs? They worked for Northern Telecom.
Mopar has discontinued their remanufactured------I found 1 in Lapeer Mi and bought it and need the gasket set kit any idea on part number? when did they stop the rebuilt engines? would you put in a ac delco tensioner belt tensioner to save 125? what would you change parts wise if u were me and wanted no issues or best chance no issues injectors coils water pump pcv belts hoses ? already got 8k in ...may as well go big-MotownIt needs to be assessed. You may be better off with a remanufactured long block at that mileage. Depending on the amount of internal damage & if this is the only problem with the vehicle, this way out may be the most sensible.
Mopar has discontinued their reman, but use this part number in your search for reference.

Thanks for your generouse help --I did as you and my friend said----update: Face book guy offering rebuild 3.6 and install 4 grand. Suspicious me ...call known Michigan motor rebuilders on 8 mile Detroit---"price on 3.6 rebuild/install....please...." I can't help you-can't get parts"...I can put in a used junk yard motor for 2 grand plus motor cost " I say " got a guy for 4k on fb" ...where the heck is he getting parts? I'll tell u , he can't since I can't and have been doing this for 35 years". So the fb guy was just gonna fix the valve or 1 piston....thus I learned rebuil does no mean remanufactured......so since I build these jeeps I went to my mopar loyal friend who sold me a couple of his cars he bought new, and he said get a Mopar remanufactured engine use employee discount... so called around and one guy in parts looks on computer and says Jim Reihls Jeep in Lapeer Mi has one in stock. Call them up talk to kid named Colton in parts. Verify vin, pay with card over phone he delivers to my auto mechanic shop for free. Today call Jim Reihl's -engine done can u come pick up core? "Sure no issue---once we pick it up we'll refund card the $600 core charge. The long block needed 1300 in parts -oil pan valve covers etc so I spent 3300 install, $4998 for long block plus 300 tax for total of $8600. Best of the best 3yr warranty Mopar remanufactured guaranteed longblock delivered to my guy, core picked up from my guy---dont even have to call my guy about pick up of core dealer doing all that. Pay by card---now lets hope they tightened all the bolds and rebuilt the thing correct. Sure beat dealing with fb unknown, or junk yards. 2013 GC Laredo Leather Nav...paid 10,500 1 year ago 167,000 miles.. Hoping to never buy new now as I build these things and finally got one. Gotta love Jim Riehl's parts people, Chrysler, friends who know and this and site who has been so helpful. MotownIt needs to be assessed.
