New guy with a 97 Chrysler Cirrus

1254 4
I'm new to the forum and not sure if I should be posting this here, but I have 97 Chrysler Cirrus that I recently bought. It starts and runs fine until it gets warm and then it cuts off and won't restart until it's completely cooled down. Not sure what the problem is. Someone suggested that the thermostat may be bad and the car automatically shuts off to avoid damage from overheating , but I never heard of a car doing that so i'm not sure. Any ideas?

No, there is no such feature. First thing to do is check fault codes and report back on what you find:

There are many possible causes, and some that come to mind are: defective coil or coil pack, opening up with thermal expansion; bad crankshaft or camshaft position sensor. What engine is this?
