Many folks use the van as a multi purpose van.
as a option or even as standard make the back hatch have lift up Glass that way people can more easly move long opjects.
They should be able to use the same basic hatch they have now with just a few modifacions.

Unfortunately lawyers would get in the way. Fear of carbon monoxide from the exhaust entering the cabin if people drove with the glass up.

The full size GM suvs have it
The Grand Cherokees used to have this option, but not for a long time now.
That's been something I've wished for all the way back to my 1st gen.
Like Valiant said, they had it on the Grand Cherokee, but also the Liberty, and the Wrangler still has it. I kind of wish we had a 4Runner style one that rolled down into the tailgate.

It was called a 'flipper' glass. It had an electric latch release. The CO & fumes warning was printed on the glass, You weren't supposed to drive with it open.
I think that the option was ended by safety concerns.

Me too. I’ve longed for that on the minivan since my first one, back in the early 2000s.
I don’t know details in the car you provided, but the flip up glass is also part of a larger lift gate. You can either open just the glass or the whole lift gate.

Just borrow a truck for that once a year long object! ;)

It’s not for long objects in my case. Too many times items that get scattered in the cargo area all come tumbling out if you’re parked uphill. Instead you can open the glass and nothing falls out. Maybe no one else but me has ever had sloped driveways.

Don't almost all Minivans have a sunken rear floor behind the third row now days? you must have alot of stuff rolling around if they have filled that up. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of the opening back window, but when I did have it on my o5 GC it caused more issue than it was worth.

All it takes is one thing rolling out of a grocery bag. You park on a sloped driveway, and open the hatch. Your grocery item, hopefully a tin can or unbreakable plastic, is now in the driveway.

yeah, I believe the lack of an opening rear glass on SUV's or anything else is all about cost. I mean the Ram has half a dozen different bed configurations (they have the money), Chrysler... eh not so much. Jeep, well I can't explain it, I would hope the 100k plus Grand Wagoneer has the option available but maybe thats for next years model...

You only have the sunken floor back there if the seats are up. In my minivans, the back row seats stay down (I love Stow 'N Go) unless I want to seat more than 4 people. With the seats down, stuff can easily roll out if you open the gate while parked on an upward slope.

Or rolling down the driveway towards the street. Been there, done that.

It doesn't only happen on sloped driveways. I've had items drop out when opening the rear hatch and we have a level driveway. All it takes is the bags shifting as you drive.
