350 Fiat 500s were sold in Mexico in February of 2013.

You know what part of the beauty of all this is? They actually CAN shift production between plants where and when it makes sense to do so.

Initial Fiat stake was 20%. Goal #1 was production of the FIRE engine in Dundee, good for 5%. #2 was tied to sales of Chrysler products outside of NAFTA, good for another 5% - bringing Fiat's stake to 30%. A cash purchase of 16% of Chrysler brought the total to 46%, setting the stage for the next step.

Once the government loans were paid, Fiat was granted and took options to buy the government-held shares, which brought ownership to 53.5%.

The last 5% was achieved when the Dodge Dart - using Fiat architecture - was certified at an unadjusted 40MPG on the EPA scale, bringing the total to 58.5%.

Near as I can tell, production of the Fiat 500 in Toluca wasn't to hit an ownership-stake goal.
