This is very unofficial but I was told today to expect an announcement in the next few months regarding the next large cars...

next as in current platform revisions or next as in the G architecture whatever they name it?

Yes they should make plans 10 years in advance and stick to them no matter how the market or business climate changes... wait? OK no.

I get we are fans and we get excited and want what we want...... but it not lying to adjust business plans to optimize one business and react to dynamics.

Its likely that they will be forced to use something new in the future to save weight. Some of the things in the Alfa that are being proven out do not require changing architecture. They can implement them in the current platform, phasing them in.

Is there going to be a 300? If so, is it going to be CUV based...

I doubt you will answer but just thinking out loud...

I don't think anyone knows what exactly is happening to the 300. I've heard it'll be based on the Pacifica platform, then I heard that it'll be on the G platform. The rumors switch back and forth. It's probably too soon to tell.

Proper terminology would be "eight hundred" ;) and to be honest, I have yet to see you make a mistake in my year of joining AllPar. So, batting a "thousand" from my bleachers !

That middle one looks as big as a 300, but profile looks nothing like any of the known ones (300, Charger, Ghibli, Quattroporte) and as far as it's known, no replacements for these are yet in the pipeline.

I remember rumours of a large sedan in development for China on an extended Dart/Viaggio architecture. But I thought it'd been stopped. Could that be it?

Otherwise, any guesses?

No Targets (shopping carts) in Brampton, or Canada for that matter. Its just transport and the trailer happened to have Audi's on it, wherever it was taken

Brampton is an enigma. It's a plant that IMHO Sergio really doesn't want, but it produces cars that make money. So his problem is, I spend money to update the cars and the plant? Or not. It's underutilized, and more and new products are needed, and he doesn't have room at other plants in NA to move. A new CUV would be nice, but if they can the 300, I believe it's a mistake.

What kind of CUV would Brampton get? Durango is still staying in Jefferson? Is Bramoton getting the rumored Journey's replacement?

Can Brampton make 4 vehicles? I woukd have guessed a mid-size car would be made there..

Looks to me like a Loblaws/JoeFresh (as in Canada) sign in the background.
Bankrupt Target buggies still litter parking lots here.
As for this pic being located near the plant i can't confirm.

4 vehicles? I thought we no longer have the Magnum because we needed room for the Challenger ?

Mike, not arguing the point. Just my opinion, I personally believe from his own comments in the past that he is not a fan of autos being assembled in Canada, but he has little choice because they had or have no excess capacity in the US. It's a good thing both St. Louis plants are gone, or the outcome may have been different. Again my opinion.

In 2008 the UAW made massive concessions - the CAW, now known as UNIFOR, were much less accommodating. Sergio once stated that if he was forced to accept this contract, Brampton wouldn't be getting a new paint shop. I believe that the reluctance of the Canadian union to play nice is the main reason for the cold shoulder treatment. However things have changed in the past couple of years. The UNIFOR contract with FCA is now more in line with the UAW deal - and the.75 dollar doesn't hurt either. I know for a fact that BAP is well regarded by the people in Auburn Hills .

Looking at 2021 we would have -

- Wrangler
- Wrangler Pickup
- Cherokee
- Grand Cherokee
- Compass
- Renegade
- Wagoneer
- Grand Wagoneer

I'm starting to wonder if they'd take Durango from JNAP, build something Durango sized at Brampton with the next big cars, and have JNAP build the next platform version of Grand Cherokee (will it be a V6/V8 vehicle or V4/V6 like the Cherokee?) and a crossover for Chrysler?

Holy crap though, we're going to have a lot of trucks.

A V-4? I would LOVE to see that! Just think how efficient the packaging could be!:D

But seriously.....looking at this line-up....a pretty full-looking one....the truth is staring me right in the face....and the reality is only just hitting me NOW.
That mythical "mainstream brand" we all seem to be looking for.....appears to be JEEP.

Now.....it doesn't seem so strange for my local CDJR dealer to now refer to itself in advertising as (fill in the blank) Jeep. instead of (fill in the blank) CDJR.
