Excellent news. Is it an official NHRA record? Those are usually set at the Div points meets and there happens to be one this weekend @ Gainsville. I don't know how far that is from Bradenton and whether or not Geoff Turk will be running there.Geoff Turk, who just became the first Stock Eliminator/Factory Super Cars racer in history to record an official 7-second elapsed time, with a 7.996 at 170.10 mph at Bradenton, Florida! With that, he will collect a cool $5,000 from the folks at Holley Performance Products.
Geoff Turk was actually posting on his progress in this motorsports section about a year ago. I haven't seen anything from him lately. I can't remember his avatar right now but Mike V might know if he's still actively posting updates.Who's Turk?
I keep up with him on FB. He is very active on FB and wrote a timeline on his racing career from age 15 to now. Totally dedicated mopar man.Geoff Turk was actually posting on his progress in this motorsports section about a year ago. I haven't seen anything from him lately. Thanks, Tom"In Holley EFI Factory Super Cars, Geoff Turk took the lead in qualifying with a 7.99 in his Challenger to become the first driver to break the 7-second barrier in the class, and earn a massive monetary bonus through Holley EFI’s 7-Second Club. He also made it to the final round of eliminations, but Joseph Welch took the win with an 8.02 in his Drag Pak, while Turk took his car through the stripe at 8.12."
He won't be the only one. Allen Johnson also will be running a Drag Pak Challenger in Factory Stock Elim (see my new post on this) at the Gators. There are already 31 entries for the class. I didn't see Joe Welch on the list but NHRA implied that they are still accepting entries.Just read a commit by Turk and he's headed to the Gators next.
