In the past 8 hours or so, we have been contacted by scores of readers who were elated to see that the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Concept is listed as the one and only model in the “Upcoming Vehicles” page on RamTrucks.com. To many people, seeing the Hellcat Hemi-powered pickup listed as an upcoming vehicle means that the supercharged truck is coming – and soon – but we aren’t holding our breath and you shouldn’t either.

I should start by pointing out that I believe very strongly that at some point, we will see a version of the Hellcat Hemi under the hood of a Ram 1500. The internet is ripe with rumors of high performance pickups coming from Ram and while I don’t believe all of these rumors, our information suggests that there will eventually be what some would like to call a Hellcat Ram. It likely won’t carry the Hellcat name (that is a Dodge thing), but the 6.2-liter supercharged Hemi could be offered in a Ram truck at some point in the not-so-distant future.

Unfortunately, this listing on the RamTrucks website isn't new, so those who believed otherwise are about to be disappointed.

Upon receiving so many questions and tips about the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX appearing in the Upcoming Vehicles section on RamTrucks.com, we reached out to FCA for more information. A company representative explained that the Upcoming Vehicles section is where they list – you guessed it – upcoming vehicles. When the Rebel TRX Concept was introduced back in 2016, the supercharged show truck was added to this portion of the website. Along the way, it was joined by other models that were headed for production and as those trucks moved to production, they were moved to other parts of the vehicle list. On the other hand, the Rebel TRX Concept has been listed the same way since late in 2016.

When you click the listing for the 2017 Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Concept under Upcoming Vehicles, it takes you to a landing page chock full of information on the concept truck that we met back in late 2016. That landing page is not new, nor is any of the information on the website about the Ram Rebel TRX Concept. This landing page and the link from the Upcoming Vehicles section of RamTrucks.com haven’t changed in more than a year, but with the truck generating so much interest, the company didn’t want to remove the supercharged super-truck from the website and leaving it in Upcoming Vehicles made the most sense.

The bottom line here is that the Ram 1500 Rebel TRX Concept has been listed as an Upcoming Vehicle since late in 2016. While we believe that there will be a Hellcat-powered Ram truck sooner or later, the listing on RamTrucks.com doesn’t offer any more information than we have had for the past year.

However, when the Hellcat-powered Ram 1500 does arrive, it will likely dominate the truck segment in the same way that Hellcat-powered machines already dominate the sedan, coupe and SUV segments.
