If my oil is changed before the truck advises me (2010 1500), do I "re-set" the light even though it's not on or will it come on in a month maybe and I re-set it then, or does the computer have a way of knowing the oil has been changed?

The computer doesn't know you changed the oil. If you reset the light now, it will then begin calculating the oil life for a fresh oil change.
