FC US built around 71 transmissions with the wrong park-lock rod, which means that the car (or truck) may still roll after being shifted into Park.

Making life more complicated for the company, the transmissions were installed in a wide range of 2018-model-year vehicles — Dodge Chargers, Durangos, and Challengers, Chrysler 300s, Ram 1500s, and Jeep Grand Cherokees and Wranglers.

Dealers will replace the part at no cost to the owner. The company told the NHTSA that the recall would start on June 20, but it may actually begin earlier; yesterday’s recall was also slated to start on June 20, but dealers were already prepared for it when we posted the news.

NHTSA has not released details yet, and FCA has not issued a press release with more information. The NHTSA code is 18V280000 ; the FCA code is U43.
