The 'jellybeans' of the '90s. Soft character lines. Easy on the eyes.
Beatnik trim level names like Crew, Jazz, Pop, Lounge, etc don't appeal me. Maybe I'm getting old.

Thunderbolt might be good if Ford doesn't own that name (1964 Fairlane drag race package 427 FE side oiler).

If Ford owned that name, Chrysler wouldn't have used it in 1993.

Names go back and forth. Ford was happy enough to use Aspen, Explorer, Falcon, Laser, and Sierra...

Ranger, Pacer, Corsair and Citation were 1958 Edsel models, Ranger returned as a light truck, Pacer went to AMC, Corsair is back as a Lincoln model and Citation went to Chevrolet. It is somewhat amusing to see names recycled by competitors. For me, Thunderbolt will always conjure up an image of a big engine stuffed in a smaller body, like a Hemi Cuda.

Thunderbolt is a protocol now like USB 4 (or, as someone said, "USB 4 with all the trimmings.")
Lightning is a truck you plug into your iPhone.
What's next, the Ford Firewire? Chevrolet SCSI? Audi ADB?
