Articles such as this one from Bloomberg have been popping up this summer. The August sales results again confirm this trend. A $70,000 Dollar premium trim level pickup is twice the price of an entry level Mercedes. It doesn't seem to bother American consumers that a premium pickup has a mundane work truck cousin, out performing menial tasks for the highway department. Mercedes has worked hard to keep from Americans a secret that many of their cars in Europe are lowly taxicabs clattering away in some major European cities.
