Hi all can anyone point me in the right direction I need a new temperature sender unit for a 1955 Plymouth Belvedere with a flathead six engine, any help gratefully apprciated

You might try Cole Hersee P/N 84201 which shows fitting Mopar# 1507050 which shows up on lint to fit 52-54. 1/4" NPT with slide on terminal. 43-51 ohm resistance.

NAPA had one for my '57. Not sure if it's the same as '55, but worth a look.

You're right, of course. I just thought that since the 12V cars used approx. 5V for the gauges, that the 6V systems may be the same. I have very little experience with 6V cars, though.
