  • 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. With its weird 18-inch nosepiece and rear-mounted wing, there was no mistaking the Daytona. It was a street car built entirely to win stock car races, which it did in its NASCAR debut at Alabama International Motor Speedway in Talladega. Chrysler made 503 of them, three more than were needed to qualify as a stock car.

  • 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. This car was so fast that it officially cut off the first part of the name Barracuda. It has a 426-cubic-inch Hemi V-8 producing 425 horsepower, making it a cornerstone of what Plymouth called its "Rapid Transit System." About 700 were made.

And how about this one for the GTO

  • 1966 Pontiac GTO
Available as a hardtop, coupe, or convertible, the GTO—which was propelled by a 335-horsepower, V8 engine—could really move. “The Goat,” the term originally used for Dodge vehicles prior to being reassigned to the GTO by those with poor grammatical skills ushered in the American muscle-car era in the mid-1960s if one chooses to rewrite history by ignoring earlier , more venerable efforts by the Chrysler Corp ten years previously.
