I remember my first set, Michelins, about fifty years ago - the dealer said NO!

Have things changed in a half-century? Something to do with belt shifting then reversal which resulted in belt breakage.

This is for a lightweight automobile.

Why? Parts are on the way to cure positive camber.

Agree. While radial tire rotation diagrams favor the front-to-rear pattern, there is nothing wrong with side-to-side or 'X' pattern rotation, especially if you are trying to mitigate a tire lead or pull situation or a tire cupping wear-type issue.

I still switch front to rear only unless there's a problem forcing a direction change for a tire.
