Radiator Capacity '03 PT Limited Edition

IT'S AN '02 NOT AN '03. I have an '02 Limited Edition 2.4. Does anyone know how much just the radiator (not the whole cooling system) holds. The Owners Manual says 6.5 quarts for the cooling system which includes the coolant recovery bottle. I assuming they are referring to the complete cooling system (radiator, heater and engine block).

I just want to drain the radiator and add new anti-freeze from my Chrysler Dealer.

I've read how to fill it using the air bleed valve and a clear tube.

Thanks~~~~Ron

F.Y.I. I drained my radiator and it held 6.5 quarts exactly what my owner manual says it should. Now this is radiator only!!! You still have extra coolant 50/50 mix in the block and heater core.

I decided to do the radiator replacement only with Zerex G-05 (H.O.A.T. approved) and distilled water. I bought 1 gallon of 100% and mixed it 50/50 with distilled water. Now I have extra coolant to top it off as needed. I used the fill air valve (in the fill neck) and it worked as designed. No air in the system and temperature is normal.

I plan on replacing just the radiator coolant as I did this time about every 18-24 months. This should suffice and I'm happy with the way I did it. Works for me!!!!

Have a great week!!!!

Why do you want to drain only the radiator and not the engine block and heater core? Are you trying to save money?

It is virtually impossible to drain just the radiator. If you remove the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator, radiator contents will drain. However some of the coolant in the engine block and all in the water pump and lower hose will drain through the lower radiator hose, into the radiator and out the drain plug.
