I have a friend who was a long time Dodge and Ram truck loyalist who bought a Chevy this time. His reason? PRICE.

Brand loyalty is not the right way to buy IMO. Buy the one you like best after driving all 3 Tundra and Nissan don’t count). Or based on price if that is most important or a dealer you like.

Retention was always a problem with Chrysler brands. Seems like that hasn’t changed.

The price and option packages are so out of touch

It was last year when few were giving deals on price. He couldn't get a deal on a 3/4 ton Ram but found a comparable Silverado for 10k less and bought it. He didn't want a Ram Classic because he had several before they became Classics lol Might be getting more back to normal with inventory growing
Ram Classics may need to be called Ram Antiques soon. My next work truck is likely to be a Chevy because of price just like others are saying.

I’m looking at HD to replace my truck
If I go with a ram to get the towing packages with all the fun gadgets. It’s either tradesman or top of the line. Besides greed, there is absolutely no logic why they do not offer it on mid level vehicles
The problem with being so single-mindedly focused on transaction prices and margins, is that it increasingly pits Stellantis against the customers it depends on.

This strategy punishes loyal customers the most, who remember how things at CDJR dealers used to work, how much CDJR vehicles used to cost, and how much value they used to get for their money.

I've watched a video (not sure if it was MotorTrend, Car and Driver or Top Gear) that compared all 3. If you like to ride and drive: RAM, if you want the best truck to do truck things: Chevy or GMC. Ford: price and a third place finish. Why am I not surprised?

Ford makes it so easy to build almost the exact truck with only the options one wants. Ram just does not allow the same versatility. Chevy is somewhat better.

Ford likes "packages" too, but more of them and more optional stuff. I suspect you can order, withing guidelines, what you want from any of them, but not like the old days when there were so many options to add on to a basic vehicle.

A fond memory, ordering a 1999 Intrepid ES for my wife to drive. It came in with her name at the top of the Maroney sheet saying. "Built for Elizabeth (last name) by Daimler-Chrysler. But truly a Chrysler design and car.

All FCA websites are a nightmare to navigate.

When you build a Wrangler, you start from FOURTEEN TWELVE different trim levels. Seriously. Not counting 2-door and 4-door.

Then there are a dozen packages and another dozen stand alone options, five engine options, two transmissions, two transfer cases, four top options.

It is a miracle people are able to figure things out.

This is the landing page right now

Go to Toyota's website and build a Corolla Cross Hybrid. It is so simple.

The pricing is fantastic also!

AND they are a sweet little rig. A simple little tall car that is easy to get in and out off and is actually fun to drive.

I know they don't use Jatco, but I can't get past the CVT. It's getting tough to find a small vehicles that don't use CVT's, other than Mazda

VW has no CVTs. Either a well made manual or an automatic (my GTI has the real good Dialer clutch auto.) Other VEs May have a torque converter automatic.
