My 94 Spirit keeps popping its right rear wheel cylinder. I replaced the old one with a new one but it didn't help the problem. The wheel cylinder itself is fine as far as I can tell, the brake works fine for a few pedal presses then it pops. Any idea what could be causing this? Maybe a brake shoe is hanging up on some piece of brake hardware and not returning properly?

Check the backing plate itself, when the wheel cylinder is in place it has to go between two tabs, one on either side, to prevent the cups from popping out. Pull the opposite side and compare the two sides.

Another possibility is the shoes aren't adjusted out far enough and the wheel cylinder is overextending.

Probably a stupid question, but you're not "checking" it without the brake drum on, are you?
