Ram Truck just introduced a new Snow Plow Prep package for the 2021 Ram 1500, at the Work Truck Show® in Indianapolis.

Available for just $195, it’s a good deal even if you don’t plan to move snow: it includes a 220-amp alternator, truck-side plow wiring harness, and rear power sliding window with integrated defroster. The downside is that Ram deletes the active air dam, to make way for plow mounts, when the option is selected—which may explain how they can make it so inexpensive.

Ram chief Reid Bigland credited the new option with Ram’s larger presence in the commercial vehicle market. It is available on the 2021 Ram 1500 Tradesman, Big Horn, and Laramie 4x4, with either Hemi engine or the diesel—but not the Pentastar V6.

The plow, mounts, and controller themselves are all sold separately through several manufacturers.

The Ram 1500 has up to 12,750 pounds of towing capability and 2,300 pounds of payload, and (when equipped that way) America’s most powerful half-ton diesel pickup; the newly upgraded diesel has 480 pound-feet of torque.
