I have a neighbor with a 2001 Sebring sedan, the bushing in the end of the shift cable to the 41TE broke. I did a quick temporary repair by taking the remaining piece off the transaxle lever and inverting it with the cable end over the lever. It is holding for now.
A new cable is around $140 and requires taking the console out to change it. Years ago there was a recall fix on the L body 5 speed linkage involving a clip to hold the plastic sockets onto the relay, shift tube, and transaxle levers. Is there any similar fix for these? possibly Dorman Help line? Thanks!
