2002 Dakota Quad Cab 4.7 automatic trans

The other day I went to press down on the lever to release the tilt and something broke in the column. The lever just moves up and down and doesn't release the tilt.
Easy fix or alot of work. I didn't see anything on it in the Haynes manual I have.

Start by removing the plastic cover to get access to it. Look for a spring and a lever inside. See what broke.

Took it in to the dealer last week. Had them check it out. Said it was a cable attached to a rod and the rod broke in the column. Part not serviced would have to replact the column.
$1850.00 to replace. Glad it broke in my normal driving position. Will get it fixed if we don't get a new 1500.

Yeah, have to agree with that. Sounds like a salvage yard item.
