TFL broke a Hornet!?

Looks like when TFL did their 3 wheel slip test the Hornet GT didn't like it. Not a good sign at all.

They seem to "break" everything they test.
Then take a 30 second scenario and stretch it into 15 minutes of blathering. I won't watch it to see if their test was valid or not.

What an embarrassment!!!

TFL does this test to all new AWD vehicles and not one has lit up like a Christmas tree the way The Hornet GT did.

Of course, the people say they are aware of the problem and it an be fixed with a flash.

They always say this and claim every problem can be fixed with a flash.

The Hornet is basically a Compass. TheAWD system should be well-sorted at this time.

Another lousy launch of a new vehicle.

2,000 miles on it already? Wouldn't that be a pre-production test car?
It is likely a press vehicle.

This is not good at all. Dodge already had an uphill battle with this vehicle without the negative publicity.

This could very well spell the end of Dodge...with Charger, Challenger and Durango already at the end of production.

Yeah. I’m not going to watch the video either. I can’t stand those guys any more.

If it's a press vehicle that's even worse. They go over press vehicles with a fine toothed comb to make sure they're perfect, and TFL does this with literally every AWD car they test, so it's not like this should have been a surprise. Even if it's not a reflection of a production car, it's still a major 'oopsie' and some bad press, right when they do NOT need it for their first new car launch in near a decade....anyway, I'm definitely in a holding pattern now.

They have to stretch it, otherwise it's a 5 minute video. I find this sort of traction test to be very informative though. Even this one, though not for the reasons everyone thinks...yeah, I'm not too happy about the break-down, but the scenario where both front wheels are on rollers makes me think there's always some power going to the rear, explaining why it got loose so quick. Might also explain the relatively low fuel economy, not disconnecting the rear axle creates a lot of drag, but it also shortens reaction time and can increase handling dynamics.

I'm still going to wait for them to work out the bugs. I mean, really, this was my kind of fix they suggested. Reboot, then update the drivers and firmware. I thought they called the IT Help Desk. 🤣 🤣

Let me fix that for you.
It's sad, but they don't apparently. i've seen a few test cars without the latest updates applied (the rough shifting Grand Cherokee 4xe, just about any early Giulia test car) so I would not be surprised.

They really don't go over press vehicles like it was 1970, you know. Most of them have another company handling the press vehicles, and while they are all spotlessly cleaned and obvious issues are usually handled, they're not especially prepped. I've had problems with press vehicles, albeit mostly Fords—for a long time every Ford I borrowed was broken in some way, e.g. a remote mirror that only went out, not in... I forget the other issues. Once the brake light came on and stayed on and they had to fix it while I waited for two hours.

There are refinements & updates in the pipeline. Everything new has a learning curve.
The Hornet (GG) is basically a sound lauch. The press will have haters, it is SOP for click-baiters.

Yes, TFL’s AWD test is better than most. I just find them increasingly irritating.

Tommy used to be this quiet, unassuming kid who got down to the business of making good video reviews. But he has grown into an obnoxious drama queen like his dad. And Roman is just full of hot air. TFL is now all about “controversies.” Andrei is the only one I still take seriously; all the rest are just a bunch of clowns.

I guess I have grown impatient with YouTubers in general. After awhile, they become more concerned with the number of clicks than making good content.

Yeah, I wouldn’t beat them up too badly for this. I’ve seen lots of reviews of press cars, and some are pre-production models, and there are frequently issues (however big or small). Hopefully whatever it is has been addressed. And it’s a brand new model, so you’re going to expect issues anyway…regardless of brand. It’s why I’d really be hesitant to buy a first model year vehicle.

The YouTubers are especially concerned about clicks because that’s how they get paid. Number of subscribers, number of views, length of views, etc. You’d think that good content would be enough to bring in the subscribers and views, but the way YouTube changes their algorithms periodically it affects the monetization of videos. And in a sea of clickbaiters, good content providers can struggle to gain those subscribers and views because they get drowned out by the nonsense.

My wife ran a YouTube channel, that was mostly for our family but we were growing subscribers and viewership. But it was slow going because unless you’re putting out flashy nonsense, it’s harder to grow. We weren’t willing to do that, and other priorities have taken the lead for us anyway. We still have our channel, but haven’t posted new content in quite some time.

The issue with Hornet, though, is that Dodge soon won’t have anything else to sell. Hornet is it. So they cannot afford this type of bad publicity.

Add to that the fact Hornet was looking questionable as a Dodge product to start with, and it is easy to see this whole thing unraveling fast.

Agreed, I've seen press cars have issues in many early reviews. Regardless, not what Dodge needed in today's times.

I don't think a Throttle House video is going to kill Dodge.

It isn’t Throttle House, it is TFL.

In any case, if you haven’t noticed, Dodge is half dead already. Hornet will be Dodge’s ONLY product once production of Challenger, Charger and Durango ceses.

There is ZERO excuse for this failure.

As I stated, the Compass has a similar AWD setup and that is reliable.

TFL has done this test on everything from Volvos to Fords and Subaru. Nobody broke down like this.

This from the company that engineers off-road Jeeps. No wonder Bronco Sport Badlands performs better off-road than the Compass Trailhawk.

The over focus on margins has resulted in the company taking its eyes off the ball.

If I were Tavares, there would be some unemployed people today.
