The Chrysler 300 May Not Be Dead After All (at https://carbuzz.com/news/the-chrysler-300-may-not-be-dead-after-all )When the discussion turned to the Chrysler 300, Beahm implied the full-size sedan could live on, contrary to reports that it's getting the chop. "You know, in terms of its (sales) performance, it’s doing great,” he said. "We like where it’s positioned; it provides great value. It’s a lot of car for the money.”
"We haven’t announced we will discontinue it. I mean, we’ve announced we’ll sell it through this year,” he said when asked about rumored plans to kill off the 300. Originally, the plan was to replace the existing 300 with a new sedan underpinned by the front-wheel-drive platform of the Chrysler Pacifica, but Beahm admitted this wouldn’t be a good idea. Hopefully, this means the 300 will get a successor or a significant revamp next year.

Never let it be said that we folks here at Allpar don't aim to please.Golf clap please !!!
Chrysler should be considered luxury with mainstream prices. While trim quality might not be as good as luxury brands, it offers the styling and ride of what people expect of a premium, non-sporty vehicle."Luxury" has different meanings to different people. Someone can consider a 300 as a more luxury oriented offering than Charger and they would not be wrong. In fact, luxury or premium is about the only way Chrysler can bring margins. "People mover" isn't an inspirational image and Chrysler needs an aspiring image.
Why can't people be allowed to have their opinions?
They aren't luxury, but they will have electrified vehicles. Mainstream with an emphasis on technology?I guess that begs the question then, what IS it? And “mainstream” is not a definition.
1) Yes, I deleted my Avatar.Avatar gone, moderator status gone, supporter status gone. Only thing left is the opinion. Good for you and i hope you keep your opinion going for a long time. It is noticeable that the opinion has firmed up. Good, allpar needs that.
This. This is what Chrysler represents. And the 300 is the embodiment of luxury for the masses.Mainstream cannot be a definition? How obtuse. Let's look at what "mainstream" really means:
main·stream
Dictionary result for mainstream
/ˈmānˌstrēm/
noun
adjective
- 1.
the ideas, attitudes, or activities that are regarded as normal or conventional; the dominant trend in opinion, fashion, or the arts.
"companies that are bringing computers to the mainstream of American life
So how does that relate to a car brands direction? Well, it eliminates something niche like wild, avant garde styling so no crazy lexus grills, scissor doors or high horsepower engines like the Hellcat. Strictly speaking, the style will be the dominant fashion trend so that doesn't automatically mean bland, more like working with what has been the dominant and accepted style for Chrysler itself. I can already hear the moans of how Chrysler will be nothing than boring, forgettable vehicles. Pessimism is so easy to predict.
- 1.
belonging to or characteristic of the mainstream.
"mainstream politics"
The 300 was a shock to the market and dominated mainstream. Chrysler has a reputation for being the underdog, punching above its weight and bringing premium/luxury/fancy-looking/(insert adjective here) cars to the mass, IE MAINSTREAM market.
So for the umpteenth time, we need to wait for new product before declaring victory or signing the death certificate. Chryslers fans are waiting eagerly while the haters and victims continue to wail and gnash their teeth.
Can we just make a monthly "the 300 is dead/not dead" thread that everyone can fight it out in like normal?[/QUOñ
Lets do it
Isn't that part of what got the former Chrysler Corporation in trouble in the first place?I hope we don't reflect someday on having catered to everyone, being bloated with to many models, and therefore inefficiencies.
