Wow, I guess they just aren’t in the fleet trim ones in rental fleets

Why would a rental car agency want anything but Stow and Go. An eight passenger seating requires removal of the seat to get a flat floor. Having seats that easily flip up and down is a definite plus. Making the lower storage into one unit all the way across probably compromises crash integrity and leaves no place for the exhaust to get to the rear.

I am sad! My 21 Pacifica has been declared a total due to those large pieces of frozen water known as hail. At least it is fully covered other than that miserable deductible and increased current prices on the used market.

Because people need to carry eight people?
That’s the only time I’ve rented a car recently.
I’d bet far more people rent a minivan to haul people than haul cargo.

Could be. But Chrysler is not creating space under the floor out of nothing. It is relocating components under the floor (e.g., fuel tank, etc.), raising the floor, redesigning the seats and their anchor points. All of which, presumably, cut into Chrysler's ability to offer 8-passenger seating.

Now, if Chrysler offered Stow 'n Go AND 8-passenger seating, it would allow customers to have their cake and eat it too.
I don't know how much they raise the floor, but you're right about the eight passenger seating, and that is, IMHO, two things - (a) cost cutting and (b) not wanting to leave the middle seat unfoldable while the others fold flat. The obvious and original solution is seven passenger SnG with an eight passenger rollaway seat option, but they were too cheep to pay for the tooling, so we don't have that.

Correction: apparently they paid for the tooling but it's a matter of being weird or cheap with option packages.

I agree regarding having had to haul stuff around, and in at least one case I didn't have any place to leave the seats once I'd taken them out.

Each seating position represents added utility. I.e., hauling five people offers greater utility than hauling four; hauling six people offers greater utility than five, and so on. By extension, hauling eight people offers greater utility than hailing seven. And minivans are supposed to be all about maximizing utility.

I suspect the reason Chrysler doesn't offer eight seating capacity while the competition does is more the result of laziness and cheapness, as Dave explains. Of all the possible explanations, that was usually the most common reason under FCA.

Again, seating for 8 is optional.
You guys keep saying it’s not.

Go to the website and build a Pacifica. 😊
I was just on the Chrysler.com Build and Price: I do NOT see an 8-seating option. I looked across all trim levels, V6 and PHEV.

Is it buried inside some value package?

Found this in theater family group.

People? Yes! Eight once in a while. One half of the rental car equation is saleability at the end. Believe me when I say the market is much bigger for Stow and Go.

I would argue the underfloor storage is also utility.
I agree. Several years ago, I traded minivans with my son so that he could have the stow-and-go and I took his older Caravan with removable seats, because he often had to carry display gear for art shows and also be ready to take people. Simple with stow-and-go but difficult with removable seats. In addition, the space below the floor to stow the middle seats makes an excellent storage area. I keep tools and gear and even a spare battery under the floor of my 2012 T&C, which kept me from being stuck on the road in the winter when my alternator failed. When the rear seats are up, the storage area for them is huge, and that's where winter survival gear goes.

Good detective work. So you need to get the Touring L with UConnect Tehater (which the last time I looked was outrageously expensive)?
Or, and don't mistake me here, the documentation is wrong.

To be fair the Touring L isn't too expensive.
Funny that hybrid is not presented as a completely different vehicle in that site.

I think a dealer needs to step in and tell us what's really going on. I don't trust Chrysler online materials much.

If you go to Chrysler and build a vehicle, that package is $4645:

I don't know what 8-passenger seating has to do with entertainment, it seems that the 8-passenger seating should be available without all of the "entertainment" amenities, make it also available on other models, and the "entertainment" options should be offered in a different package, for those that want it.

Sounds like the Grand Cherokee L. One oddball way in a limited trim choice to get 8 passengers.

But the larger part of the equation is having vehicles people want to rent. People don’t generally rent a minivan to haul large cargo on a flat floor. They rent a minivan to haul people.

Enough about 8 passenger seating!

Nobody here yacking about it will buy it.
I have twice tried to buy 8 passenger vehicles. Durango, but every one around had second row buckets. Same for Grand Cherokee L. Because they weren’t available (short of ordering one with the odd specs required) I just rent when necessary. And they are now mostly Chevys.
